Communication is the key when reorganising

Research shows that reorganisations will fail unless employers interact with staff to communicate the changes being made. "We all know communication is important in organisations and this becomes even more so in times of change and restructure", says Sarah Harvey, SPM’s Managing Director.

"Apparently over 40% of reorganisations fail to meet their objectives and I am sure much of this is due to poor communication with staff.

Senior management, HR and line managers all need to work together to ensure the effective implementation of change. Line managers in particular need to be informed of the overall business objectives and need for change so that they may effectively communicate this to their staff. Rather than shy away from communicating with staff it is important to interact and involve them as much as possible to help build trust, commitment and a desire to implement change."
